Best Dandelion Roots for Herbal Tea: Intro

Did you know that the best dandelion roots can be used to make delicious tea? Most of you are already familiar with the bright yellow plants that appear in yards, parks, and open fields in early spring. These plants, called dandelions, always remind me that winter is nearly over and warmer weather is on the way.

Herbal Teas has been consumed for hundreds of years to help with several different ailments and illnesses.  One of the most popular teas is Artichoke Tea.  Artichoke Tea is a herbal tea made from the plant Cynara cardunculus.  The edible portion of the plant is derived from the flower buds.  The buds are cultivated before the flowers come into bloom.  Tea can be made with many parts of the plant.  The plant parts available for use in tea include  the roots, leaves and stem. The leaves from the artichoke bud are the primary ingredient used to make Artichoke Tea.  This plant is a vegetable that grows 5-6 feet tall.

Herbal teas have increased in popularity recently, and Anise tea is following this trend.  Anise tea is a herbal tea made from the flowering plant Pimpinella anisum.  The seeds of the Pimpinella anisum plant are primarily used to make tea; however, the leaves are rarely used as well.  Anise tea is known for its delicious flavor profile and pleasant aroma.  Anise is also commonly used in cooking and to make perfumes and other fragrances.  Anise tea is similar to most herbal teas and is extremely healthy.  Consuming anise tea has several benefits and positive effects including improved digestion, increased lactation, reduced menstrual cramps, better skin health and improved oral hygiene.

There are literally thousands of herbal tea types and herbal tea blends that people can create depending on their personal preference.  I decided to make this article detailing 20 of the most popular herbal tea types and varieties.  This will help beginners familiarize themselves with some of the main teas that are easy to find.  This is far from an extensive list of all possible herbal teas.  Creating a list containing every possible herbal tea blend is impossible.  Hopefully this will get you started on making your own herbal tea.  You can use any of these teas as a starting point and include additional herbs or plant materials as desired.  It is important to remember that the only limit is your imagination.
